Jamaat Islami today said the two day visit of Home Minister Rajnath Singh to valley proved a futile exercise as he failed to address the main issue – genuine demand of Kashmiri people to settle the Kashmir issue as per the real aspirations of the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir as it existed before the Indo-Pak partition.
In a statement issued to PTK, Jamaat spokesman said Singh failed to give his comments on the state-sponsored atrocities being committed upon the hapless innocent people for the last more than one and a half month during which seventy innocent persons were killed and thousands injured by Indian security forces.
“The on-going public movement has neither been started by any particular group or party nor is provoked by anyone but the people aggrieved of the indifference of government of India towards their genuine cause came out on the roads of their own. Instead of addressing the genuine cause, the government of India started a blame game and used inhumane methods to crush the people’s voice,” the party said.
Jamaat asked government of India to address the main issue of Kashmiris and fulfil its promises made to them through UNO and stop committing atrocities upon the peaceful people.
“By detaining people’s representatives and religious leaders India can gain nothing but this exercise too will prove futile and harming for it in the long run,” reads the statement.
