The unabated civilian killings in Kashmir sparked once again shutdown in Kishtwar area of Chenab Valley on Wednesday.
The call for shutdown was issued by Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo after the decision was taken by the Majlis-e-Shoora, comprising various Imams of the Masjids and the religious bodies.
The shutdown was observed to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir in view of civilian killings and against the district administration Kishtwar for registering cases against two Imams, Molvi Abdul Qayoom and Qari Manzoor Ahmed, and several youths for their allegedly raising “anti-national slogans”.
All the business establishments in Kishtwar district including schools remained closed while there was thin attendance in government offices.
Skeletal movement of traffic was observed on the Kishtwar roads, whereas, majority of the towns in the district like Sanghrambhata, Poohi, Hulkar, Drabshalla, Chatroo, Drabshala, Mughalmaidan, Dadpath, Bhunjwah, Sarthal and adjoining areas of district also witnessed complete shutdown in support of Kashmir uprising.
