At least ten persons were injured when forces fired tear gas shells and pellets on protestors in North Kashmir’s Palhallan town.

Local sources said that during Friday sermons people were asked to march towards Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway after Namaz.

“It was peaceful march and elders were leading it,” sources said, “people came out of Jamia Masjids across Palhallan.” Sources said that there are at least six Masjids in Palhallan where congregational Friday prayers are offered.

“As people reached near Higher Secondary School, police vehicles came rushing and forces fired tear gas shells to disperse the people,” sources said.

They added that youths started stone pelting and intense clashes are going on this time.

“At least ten persons were injured by pellets and one was hit by rubber bullet in chin,” sources said.

They said that the injured were rushed to local dispensaries inside the town.

Clashes were going on when last reports came in.
