The five-hour long All party meeting called by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to discuss the volatile situation in the violence-hit Kashmir following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani earlier this month, ended with passing of a resolution. While National Conference boycotted the meeting but congress and one-man parties participated in the meeting.
Government spokesperson and education minister Naeem Akhtar said the meeting discussed threadbare how to stop recurrence of such situations after every 3-4 years. He said the meeting expressed grief over the civilian killings that followed the death of Hizb commander Burhan Wani. The meeting also called for restraint from all sides while calling for “inclusive” engagement of stakeholders for peace and reconciliation.
However, Mehbooba evaded media and left the venue.
