Five Jammu and Kashmir policemen were injured when rebels attacked them at Yaripora in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
The sources said that rebels hurled a grenade on the police party, leaving five cops injured.
The injured have been rushed to hospital while one of them succumbs, said the sources, adding a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
