The police have trashed the reports that said people beat up a police officer’s wife and daughter in Awantipora on Tuesday.
Superintendent of police Awantipora Sridhar Patil told Kashmir Reader that no such incident has occurred.
“We can’t call it attack but windowpanes of the house of a police official Mohammad Ashraf at Chadrigam were damaged,” he told Kashmir Reader.
A wire service PTI quoting an anonymous police official said wife and daughter of a police officer were Tuesday beaten up by a mob protesting the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. It had reported that the duo was removed to hospital for treatment.
“I personally talked to Mohammad Ashraf and visited the spot as well. This kind of journalism maligns the image of women,” Patil added.
