Expressing grief over the death of 18 innocent lives in firing by forces in Kashmir, the Dal Khalsa Sunday strongly condemned the “brutal” attitude of the J&K government “backed by Union Home Ministry that has given unbridled powers to the security forces”.

In a statement released from the party headquarters in Amritsar, the Sikh group said, “following the martyrdom of Kashmiri brave heart Burhan Wani, the Indian forces has unleashed a reign of terror on protesters and demonstrators by firing indiscriminately on them”.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir, the Dal Khalsa said the people of Punjab share the pain and concerns of their neighbors.

The participation of thousands of Kashmiris in the funeral of Burhan has exhibited their love and respect for their heroes, the Sikh body said. The statement of the Sikh organization further said Burhan choose the path of martyrdom to uphold the spirit of non-submission to the tyranny of New Delhi.

Party head Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema urged the world powers to rise above their commercial interests and intervene to resolve the Kashmir dispute by granting the people their right to self determination.
