On Eid eve, Traffic police appeal citizens to abide by traffic guidelines

‘Use designated parking places for cars’

Srinagar, July 2: On the eve of Eid-Ul-Fitr festivity and in view of the shoppers thronging markets in the city and consequent high volume of traffic right from Sunday, traffic police Saturday issued travel advisory for vehicle owners.
“To ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of traffic, co-operation of both commuters and pedestrians in CBD area and elsewhere in City Srinagar is paramount to avoid any inconvenience during Eid-shopping and celebrations,” Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, Maqsood-u-Zaman, said.
The SSP said that all road users are advised to avoid on-road / obstructive parking in congested areas.
He said the designated parking places in CBD area including Old SMG near Press enclave, Sheikh-Bagh Opposite Ganta Ghar towards river side, Polo View opposite Banquet Hall, Polo View II near Garbage Shed, Polo View III opposite Sher-i-Kashmir Park, Opposite Mughal Darbar, Near SBI Residency Road, Sangarmal shopping complex and Lala Rukh road stretch.
He said that passenger vehicles should avoid overloading in PSVs and obey traffic signals.
Pedestrians should use footpaths to avoid commuter-pedestrian conflict, Use designated bus stops only for boarding / de-boarding of passengers, Avoid illegal display of merchandize on footpaths &roads.
“Esteemed citizens are advised to abide by the above to avoid inconvenience, traffic congestion and chaos.”
