Srinagar, June 28: Hour’s after killing of top Hizb commander at Nagri, another militant was killed late Tuesday evening in a fresh encounter with government forces at Warnow area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
Army’s 18 RR and SOG cordoned off the Rang forest area near Warnow village in the frontier district following specific information about the presence of some militants.
“The joint team of forces fired few warning shots towards the suspected spot and the militants tried to break the cordon and opened fire triggering off an encounter”, he said.
During the exchange of gunfight the suspected militant has been killed and an AK-47 rifle and other war like stores was recovered from his possession, he said, adding that search operation in the area is still going on.
Earlier, a top Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Sameer Ahmad Wani of Dooru, Sopore was killed in a gunfight at Nagri village in the northern district.
