Encounter in Lolab, after top LeT militant’s arrest

Hours after arrest of top LeT militant, a firing incident was reported adjacent to the Sogam market where he was arrested by contingent of police, earlier this evening.

Locals of the area said that they heard several gunshots in between Nagbal and Sheikh Nard forest area, some 2 kilometers away from Sogam market in north Kashmir’s Lolab area of Kupwara district.

A police official when contacted told that an encounter between militants and joint team of a police and army broke out in the area.

When reports last came in, the firing was going on.

Earlier, at 7:00 pm, top LeT militant said to be Abu Ukasha alias Hanzullah was arrested by police at Sogam market while he was making purchasing presumably for Iffitar.
