Srinagar: Retang Girls High School located in Miskeen Bagh Khanyar area of Srinagar city that was recently shutdown by Directorate of School Education for 10 days, after students claimed that an alleged ‘ghost’ resides in the hostel of the school was again in news on Thursday after all but 17 students as well as teachers fell unconscious after displaying inappropriate behavior.
Parents told CNS that Retang High School was closed by the administration for ten days, courtesy a “ghost” that resides in a haunted Madar-e-Meharban Hostel and “possesses” young girl students at will. This school according to the parents is stalked by the fear of an evil spirit these days after several girl students and teachers of the institution fell unconscious while in class a couple of times in the past and on Thursday 17 girl students not only fainted but also displayed inappropriate behavior including lip cutting, slapping, kicking, wailing and crying.
Reports said that after Thursday incident, patron Madar-e-Meharban hostel Suriya Abdullah visited the school and handed over the little students to their parents. School administration believes the school is haunted and has been witnessing the presence of evil spirits frequently after some of the chinar trees inside the school were cut down. “The school is gripped in fear. We are unable to understand what has been happening to the students. We are scared and don’t want to turn up here again,” said a female teacher.
She said that recently Education Minister Nayeem Akhtar along with Director School Education visited the school and ordered the closure of school for ten days. “We request government to relocate the ‘haunted’ school as we are really scared of the presence of evil spirits here,” the teacher said.
A male teacher on condition of anonymity told CNS that Chief Education Officer visited the school after Thursday incident and ironically he directed two male teachers to stay in the school during night hours. “The teachers have expressed concern and are reluctant to stay in the school,” he said and added that even Director Education is well aware about the presence of evil spirits in the school. Despite repeated attempts Director Education could not be contact. (CNS)
