Jammu: A day after a teenager girl died and her brother got critically injured.

Protests in Talab Tillo area against police and mini bus operators. The protestors alleged that due to nexus between mini bus operators and traffic cops, there is no check on rising traffic menace on the city roads. They also alleged the traffic police of being irresponsible towards their professional duty.

They further requested the authorities to focus on all traffic related issues. They further said that increasing road mishaps is result of failure of traffic police to check the speed of the vehicles, and also take action against those drivers who are driving the vehicles without licenses and other valid documents.

The protestors said that the driver was in high speed and had no papers. They raising slogans against the Traffic Police said that it has failed to act against those drivers who run the vehicles under the influence of liquor in fast speed and without the licenses. The protestors said it has been a routine affair that the drivers hit the people and flee after the accident. Neither the vehicle is later traced nor the driver. They said that traffic police has totally failed to take the cognizance of drivers who drove matadors rashly and have become a public nuisance as they often hit the pedestrians or other vehicles run on the roads. Scores of such accidents have taken place in Jammu district and other roads during last few months and the administration has failed to take cognizance of the same.

The protestors asked the administration to be responsive and take action against such drivers who run their vehicles in high speed and under the influence of liquor and not to play with the innocent lives falling a prey to road accidents daily. The protestors accused the Traffic Police of total neglecting its duty and responsibility saying that instead of taking action against the law breakers on roads they left all such drivers scoot free after their palms are greased by them. This irresponsible approach of the Traffic Police has been the cause of entire problem and had the Traffic Police been responsive no driver or biker could dare to run their vehicles so rashly claiming innocent lives.
