Amid shutdown, thousands participate in Kunzar militant’s funeral

Thousands of people on Tuesday took part in the funeral prayers of a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant who slipped to death after being chased by government forces in Poonch area in Jammu region last evening.

Reports said that area remained shut to mourn the death of Abu Bilal near the Kashmir border in Poonch district.

Two of his associates were arrested during the army operation.

As the body of the slain militant arrived in Kunzar, thousands of people mostly youth took to roads and chanted pro-freedom slogans.

Hizbul Mujahideen operational spokesperson Burhanuddin told the news agency that “Bilal Ahmed was affiliated with the outfit. He was on a mission when unfortunately he slipped from a cliff and attained martyrdom.”
