Ruling right wing Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) will be celebrating October 28 as “Victory Day”.
The decision was taken after Kishtwar Unit of the Saffron party moved a resolution in party convention chaired by BJP General Secretary Organization Ashok Koul to resolve for “celebrating of Oct 28 as victory day”.
On October 28, 1947 Indian army had landed in Kashmir and then autocrat Maharaj Hari Singh had acceded to the Union of India.
BJP member Brig (rtd) Mohan Sharma moved the resolution which was seconded by State Secretary Anil Parihar.
During the on-going BJP convention in Kishtwar, the speakers besides highlighting the “various achievements” of the PDP-BJP government, resolved to carry forward the various developmental works sanctioned for Kishtwar district.
MoS Sunil Sharma, BJP President Kishtwar Akshay Sharma, BJP Muslim Morcha President Kishtwar Syed Ahmed Shah, Tariq Keen, Rtd Capt Hukum Chand, Mahila President Kishtwar Surekha Sen, Harbans Singh, Lalit Sharma, Ravi Parihar and several top rank party leaders attended the meeting.
