Police today raided Wakura where youths were preparing for the Ithad-e-Milat conference scheduled to be held in the village tomorrow. Locals accused police for creating havoc in village after they entered and dismantled tents, beat youth to pulp and ransacked several houses.
Youth pelted police with stones in reply to which police resorted to tear smoke shelling and aerial firing in which ten people were reported injured during clashes. Police also arrested four youths from the area.
Earlier, few youths threw stones towards the police deployment and tried to create disturbances at Qamaria stadium where the physical test of SPO recruits was taking place. Policemen chased and dispersed the miscreants peacefully
Meanwhile, some youths pelted stones on a police vehicle in Saloora from where a youth was arrested and rest were chased off.
Men and women in large number held a strong protest rally in Manigam and shouted Azaadi slogans. The protest rally later dispersed peacefully.
