Commissioner Secretary to Government, Health & Medical Education Department (HME), Dr. Pawan Kotwal (IAS) along with Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem ur Rehman today visited the District Hospital, Pulwama and inaugurated the newly established District Mental Health Programme Unit. This unit will provide facilities like diagnosis, treatment, and counseling of mentally ill patients of District Pulwama. Later, the Commissioner Secretary HME also chaired a review meeting with the Medical Superintendents of all District Hospitals and Sub-District Hospitals at District Hospital, Pulwama, wherein he interacted with all the Hospital Administrators and took stock of the functioning of the hospital.
Director Health Services, Kashmir and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Pulwama, Dr. Abdul Rashid Parra apprised the chair about the new initiatives and innovative measures being taken at the instant hospital which include Infection Control Measures, Start of advanced Onco /Phaco /Lapro surgeries Video endoscope and Colonoscope facility, Baby Resuscitation Bays, CCTV Surveillance, EPBX and Conference System, Color Coded Bed Sheets, Code Yellow & Code Blue, Color Coded IPD Tickets, Cashless Services, Public Grievance & Redressal System, Biomedical Waste Management as per 2016 Guidelines, Biometric Attendance System, CR/Digital X-Ray System (PPP), Processing Biochemistry Lab (PPP), Up gradation of Blood Bank, Establishment of Hi-Tech Lab, Computerization of Records and e-paper services, Up gradation of Dental Unit and Ophthalmology Services, Creation of Cabins and Over Head cabins for creating more space, Mobilization of donations. The Commissioner Secretary HME then visited all the sections of the hospitals and appreciated the efforts of Directorate and the Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
It was a first of its kind review meeting which was held at a District level health institution with an objective of, apart from sharing of individual healthcare concepts, the hospital administrators will try to share and imbibe good practices so that quality of health care services is upgraded. These meetings will be held routinely in the future at all District Hospitals in a phased manner. (PTK)
