Condemning the Indian Army Chief’s commendation card to an officer involved in tying up a Kashmiri youth to a jeep as human shield, the Hurriyat leaders said that conferring award to erring officer is sheer violation of human rights.
The activists and people were protesting unabated arrests of youth and students and appealed international organization for human rights to take cognizance and impress authorities for their immediate release.
A statement issued by Hurriyat reads, “Today protests were organized at different places after Friday prayers. Resistance leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Mohammad Yasin Malik had called for protests after Friday prayers against awarding a medal to erring officer.
Resistance leaders including Noor Mohammad Kalwal , Raja Meraj u Din Kalwal , Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Altaf Ahmad Shah , Sheikh Ab Rashid , Syed Imtiyaz Hyder , Siraj u Din Mir ,Ramiz Raja, Mohammad Yasin Bhat , Omer Adil Dar , Mohammad Sideeq Shah, Ishfaq Ahmad Khan , Prof Javed Ahmad ,Shakil Ahmad Bhat, Ab Ahad Bhat , Khurshid Ahmad Parey and Sajjad Ahmad Ganai staged a protest at Maisuma Srinagar against this shameful act and while addressing the participants, said that Major Googoi in this barbaric act has surpassed all limits and humiliated and terrorized Farooq Ahmad Dar a youth from Budgam”.
Strongly criticizing Major Googoi, Meraj u Din Kalwal said that erring major is concealing the facts and while ridiculing his claim about Farooq Ahmad being a stone pellter, said that no such incident was reported on that day in said area.
Lashing out at Indian media for their prejudiced and unfair reporting, Meraj u Din said that these media centers rely on lies and propagating concocted stories.
Raja Meraj u Din impressed international community for their cognizance and said that they should take serious notice of these brazen acts and ensure dignity, security and safety of human lives in occupied state.
Terming the incident, a worst form of state terrorism, Raja Meraj u Din said that this shameful and inhuman act illustrates the mindset of Indian authorities towards people in Jammu & Kashmir.
They are following fanatic ideology for so-called’’ Hindu Rashtra ‘’ and their tall claims about democracy are a brazen lie and a hoax, said he and warned of dire consequences if ongoing onslaught and repressive measures against people are not halted.
Senior Hurriyat leader Sheikh Ab Rashid in his address, blamed Indian authorities for deploying its military might against peaceful people in state and said that they have let loose their forces and no accountability prevails to check their wrongdoings and atrocities perpetrated against innocent civilians.
Tying a youth to the bonnet of jeep is a clear indication that the officials involved in these heinous crimes enjoy patronage of Indian authorities, said he.
Demanding immediate release of students, leaders protested fresh arrest spree against students and strongly condemned the police authorities, saying that students are being implicated in false cases under various FIR’s in different police stations.
Accusing Indian forces of being involved in acts of “grave violence against civilians”, leaders also urged the international community, to take cognizance of these gruesome acts.
Hurriyat conference warned police authorities and said that ‘’ we won’t act as mute spectators and will resent the move tooth and nail.
‘’ We will take matter to streets and will seek support from our people, said Hurriyat If bullying and highhandedness against students is not stopped forthwith.
Resistance leaders in their appeal to ICJ asked to take cognizance of an officer involved in tying up a Kashmiri youth to a jeep as human shield and impressed to fulfill its responsibilities and take notice. The protesters amid slogans wowed to pursue ongoing freedom movement till its logical end. (PTK)
