‘Coalition Govt is invisible on ground’
National Conference District Unit Ramban on Saturday lambasted the PDP-BJP Government for deliberately and viciously neglecting the Chenab Valley, saying that the region has faced main brunt on all fronts during the past two and half years.
“The coalition government is invisible on ground as far as development of the region and resolving the problems of its people are concerned”, District President Sajjad Shaheen said while addressing district functionaries here this afternoon. He expressed anguish over the criminal delay in carrying out restoration works of the infrastructural damages due to harsh winter rains and snow.
He said even as weather conditions have improved, the government is not to be seen anywhere to undertake the restoration works, put in place utility services and steer out the people from the morass. He said mobility has been hit adversely as most of the interior roads in the entire region in general and Ramban District in particular. He said that power and drinking water supply is erratic while the rationees are made to wait for days together for rations at the CAPD outlets. The supply of sugar is being denied to the rationees for months together, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, former legislator Dr Chaman Lal hit out at the PDP-BJP Government, saying that instead of concentrating on governance the duo were dividing the people to hide its failures. He said development has taken nose dive during the past two and half years while the redressal mechanism does not exist anywhere as a result of which the problems of the people are accumulating with each passing day.
Dr Chaman Lal said that the governance deficit has impacted all segments of the society with poor and weaker sections facing brunt due to rising prices and lack of basic minimum necessities. He cautioned the government not to underestimate peoples’ resilience as they were determined to fight for their legitimate rights.
Prominent among those who attended the meetings included senior district functionaries Atta Mohd Katoch, Arif Mir, Chain Singh Badral, Saif din Dar, Adv Arjun Singh Raju, Abid Magrey, Farooq Gazi, besides all block and halqa presidents and delegates. (KNS)
