Senior PDP leader and Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu also party incharge of South Kashmir parliamentary constituency held a marathon meeting of the party legislators including MLAs and MLCs of South Kashmir parliamentary constituency comprising Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts to redraw the strategy for the upcoming bye elections to Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency rescheduled by Election Commission for May 25.
When contacted, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, confirmed the conduct of the meeting that was attended among others by senior PDP leaders including Revenue Minister Ab Rehman Veeri and party Vice President Sartaj Madni assisting Drabu on poll plans in Anantnag parliamentary constituency.
He said that the meeting was convened to redraw the strategy for bye polls to Anantnag parliamentary constituency postponed in the back drop of violent incidents in Srinagar parliamentary constituency on last Sunday when the polling was conducted.
Replying to a question on the timing of election, Drabu said though people of all shades of opinion were unanimous on deferment of bye polls keeping in view the timing of the holy month of Ramadan to be followed by Eid-Ul-Fitr and the annual Amaranth Yatra, but Election Commission has the authority to take a final call on its own judgment of the situation in Kashmir.
