Employees of Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, formerly known as CAPD, on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration to press for fulfillment of various long pending demands including the reorganization of the department.
Headed by President CAPD-Employees Association Kashmir, Aijaz Khan, the employees assembled in the premises of their head office at Shaheed Gung here and raised slogans in favour of their long pending demands. The protesting employees said that no departmental promotion is taking place from last several years due to which the employees suffer a lot.
“We demand allotting of grade Rs 4000- 6000 in favour of the departmental storekeepers, regularization of all the labourers working in central go-downs for many years,” they told GNS.”We also demand same treatment as prevalent in FCI with regard to the wastage of essential commodities. The government should fix monthly wages in favour of departmental labourers (Hamals) working at sale depos besides must directly induct football players of the department as storekeepers not as labourers as they are treated presently,” the protesting employees added.
The association president Aijaz Khan said, “We have submitted numerous memorandums to the concerned ministers from time to time but to no avail. Except assurances, nothing concrete was done till date,” he said while threatening to launch state wide protests in case the “genuine” demands of the employees are not fulfilled. (GNS)
