MLA Amira Kadal expresses grief
A 27-year-old girl was burnt alive while the house got damaged in a mysterious fire incident that broke out on Tuesday in Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar, officials said.
The 27-year-old girl was identified as Roshni Kour daughter of Darshan Singh, resident of Mehjoor Nagar.
Officials informed that the girl was at home when the mysterious fire incident broke out from her house. “Roshni was rescued by locals and fire and emergency services officials who shifted her to SMHS hospital for treatment. But unfortunately, the girl succumbed to her injuries at hospital,” the official in the Police Station Saddar said.
He said that the house got fully damaged in the fire incident.
Meanwhile, the locals accused Roads and Building (R&B) department, saying if the Mehjoor Nagar bridge could not have been closed, the house and the loss of life would have been prevented.
“It is unfortunate that the authorities didn’t pay heed over our plea, which resulted in the irreparable loss,” the locals alleged, adding that they should have at least constructed a temporary bridge for the welfare of the local residents.
Meanwhile, former minister and MLA Amira Kadal, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed deep shock and grief over the death of a young girl and huge damages caused to a three-story residential house in a devastating fire incident at Mehjoor Nagar.
Bukhari in a statement ,asked the administration to take immediate steps for providing relief and rehabilitation to the affected family.
Extending heartfelt condolences to Darshan Singh who lost his daughter Roshni Kour, in the unfortunate incident, the former minister asked deputy commissioner Srinagar to depute a team of revenue officers to assess the losses suffered by the affected family and disburse compensation accordingly.
The MLA Amirakadal expressed solidarity with the fire hit family and assured it of every possible help in its rehabilitation. “My heart goes out for this family that is face to face with immense sufferings due to this fire incident. I extend my deepest solidarity and sympathies with this family for the demise of its daughter. May her soul rest in peace,” Bukhari said in a condolence message issued to the press.
Expressing deep anguish over the apparent cause of fire incident, Bukhari appealed inhabitants of the locality to safeguard their lives and property by taking precautionary measures advised by the power department. “We should take precautions and prevent short circuits in our homes, shops and business establishments because most often these short circuits have proven disastrous,” he said.
The MLA Amirakadal also directed PDD officials to replace the low tension conductor wires with insulated aerial bunched cables wherever required in the area in order to minimize the damages in any such mishap in the future. (KNS)
