‘We cannot see our youth falling prey to judicial tyranny’۔
Appealing people to protest against the death sentence awarded by Kolkata court to Kashmiri youth Muzaffar Wani, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Thursday said “we cannot see our youth falling prey to judicial tyranny”.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah also expressed hope that world community takes cognizance of such “terrorizing” and “vengeful” measures of India and pressurize the country to stop such activities.
Terming the verdict as “politically motivated”, Shah said Indian judiciary at the behest of authorities is “murdering” the law and justice. “Now, unfortunately, the state judiciary is following the suit as it has failed to provide justice (to the victim),” he said.
Shah said Muzaffar Wani and his associates are not found to have committed such a crime that entitles them to death sentence. “The verdict is obviously politically motivated and makes it clear that authorities are hell bent on the lives of innocents,” he alleged.
“Courts are the last hope of people but the case of judiciary working under the Indian system is contrary. It fails to provide justice to people as it has lost its independence. Impartiality there is a thing of the past. We have to give it a serious thought as to why Kashmiris are targeted like this way,” Shah said.
The DFP chairman urged the resistance leadership to devise a strategy in this regard as there are hundreds of similar cases of the prisoners languishing in various jails across India.
Shah also condemned the unprovoked firing on civilians by Indian army in Sambora, Pulwama and termed it “unacceptable”. “This is a naked aggression. It is extremely unfortunate that world community is acting as a mute spectator over the situation in Kashmir as it has business interests with this country.” He expressed solidarity with the injured and saluted the courage and steadfastness of the people of the area.
Meanwhile, a DFP delegation led by Molvi Bashir Ahmad visited Sopore to express condolence with Bashir Ahmad Bhat on the demise of his father-in-law Late Ghulam Nabi Nadroo.
A party spokesperson hailed the deceased’s contribution to the freedom movement and prayed for his eternal peace besides forbearance to the bereaved family. (KNS)
