Minister for Public Works (R&B) Abdul Rehman Veeri today informed the Legislative Council that Ghulati to Galla road which takes off from village Patrara in district Rajouri having a length of 10 kms was sanctioned for up-gradation under PMGSY Phase-VI at an estimated cost of Rs 335.40 lakh and the work stands completed.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Sham Lal Bhagat in the Upper House today, the Minister said that this stretch of the road is presently under 5 year maintenance period upto November 2018.
The Minister said there is another road from Gala to Gambir Mughlan having a length of 5.50 kms which was also sanctioned under PMGSY Phase-V, in 2009-10 and was completed during 2012-13. He further said the road is traffic-able except for length of about 50 meters which was damaged in flash floods of September 2014 adding that the Stage-II of the road is now sanctioned under Phase-X in the year 2016-17 for a length of 5.50 kilometers at an estimated cost of Rs 336.46 lakh.
The tendering process is on for the said work and will be initiated accordingly and the damage stretch of 50.00 meter shall also be improved under Stage-II, the Minister said.
The Minister said that some damages were occurred in stretches on surface/walling during the September 2014 floods for which the funds under permanent restoration amounting to Rs 31.00 lakh are required and are yet to be arranged. However, the damaged surface of blacktopping shall be repaired as soon as the winter season is over, he said.
