Appeals int’l rights bodies, OIC to pressurize India to stop HR violations in Kashmir
Paying glowing tributes to martyrs of Gawkadal, Handwara and Kupwara massacres on their 26th, 27th and 23rd anniversaries respectively, the incarcerated Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah said the nation will never forget the martyrs of these heart-wrenching massacres.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said, “Our hearts are filled with the memories of these martyrs and we are committed to fulfill their mission.” He appealed people to organise prayer meetings these days in favour of the martyrs.
Remembering the martyrs of all these massacres, Shah said, “The example of such brutal massacres is hard to find. The then Governor Jagmohan spread bloodshed which according to him was to teach Kashmiris a lesson by conferring unbridled powers to forces.”
The DFP Chairman said the blood of these martyrs will not be allowed go waste. Terming these massacres as “holocaust”, Shah said the world rises up against such barbaric actions except if these are carried out in Kashmir.
Praying in favour of all the martyrs, Shah said we remember the victims of each and every massacre including the Bijbehara, Kupwara, Hawal, Mash’ali Mohalla, Kanikadal, Sopore, Hazratbal, Chhatergam, etc. He also took a dig at Indian media for resorting to biased approach vis-à-vis the massacres and killings in Kashmir. “During its fight with British Empire, India only saw Jalianwala Bagh massacre but in Kashmir, there are hundreds of Jalianwala Bagh massacres carried out by its 8 lakh forces.”
“There is no doubt that the officer involved in Gawkadal massacre had a spirit of General Dyer (who carried out JalianwalaBagh) in him. The massacres of Handwara and Kupwara were planned under a well thought out strategy – killed 27 innocent people on 27 January (Kupwara) and 17 on 25 January(Handwara),” he said.
Shah appealed the human rights bodies working under the United Nations including Amnesty International and OIC to utilise their offices in bringing to book the perpetrators of these deadly massacres in Kashmir. (KNS)
