.Sensex down over 400 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday fell by 414.59 points to 53,950.26 in the opening session as selling was seen across the board. The Nifty declined too by 123.90 points to 16,116.15. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 54,598.55 and 53,764.42 points respectively. The Nifty registered the days high and low at 16,318.75 and 16,071.20 points respectively. The Mid cap fell 0.68 per cent and Small Cap by 1.87 per cent. In 30 scrips, 5 advanced while 25 declined. The losers were Hind Unilever by 2.73 per cent to Rs 2124.95, Asian Paints by 2.22 per cent to Rs 3015.20, L& T by 1.75 per cent to Rs 1526.95 and Titan by 1.59 per cent to Rs 2101.60. The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 0.58 per cent to Rs 723.80, Kotak Bank by 0.55 per cent to Rs 1806.35, ICICI Bank by 0.27 per cent to Rs 661.50 and HDFC by 0.12 per cent to Rs 2203.10.
