Canberra: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Saturday supported the concerns of anti-vaccination mandate protesters as thousands of people marched to the Parliament House. According to ABC News, thousands of demonstrators have once again taken to the streets of Canberra to protest against a number of issues, including COVID-19 vaccine mandates. The protesters have gathered on the lawns of Parliament House and about 100 people breached the barricade. Meanwhile, PM Morrison said, “My message to them (demonstrators) today is Australia is a free country and they have a right to protest, and I would ask them to do that in a peaceful way and a respectful way. “I’m going to be very clear when it comes to the issue of vaccine mandates: (The) Commonwealth government has only ever supported mandates that relate to aged care workers, disability workers and those who are working in high-risk situations in the health system.” He further said that all vaccine mandates have been imposed “unilaterally by state government”. “They have not been put in place by the Commonwealth government. In fact, the Commonwealth government cannot impose such a mandate,” he added. UNI RNJ
