Srinagar: Expressing serious concerns over the prevailing weather condition and subsequent sufferings of people especially in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, President JK Nationalist People’s Front (JKNFP), Shiekh Muzaffar Friday urged LG Manoj Sinha’s administration to take necessary measures to ensure basic facilities to people.

“Weather department has already issued advisory for snowfall on Saturday and upper reaches are expected to receive heavy snowfall. I humbly appeal LG administration to resolve the problems of people by ensuring basic facilities round the clock,” said Sheikh Muzzafar in a statement.

“Many areas are still cut off from district headquarters due to snowfall. The snowfall has already disrupted power and water supply leaving the poor people suffering. The administration must ensure basic facilities and essentials to the people at the earliest,” he added.

President JK Nationalist People’s Front, said that he was touched by the plight of people and urged the administration to restore power and water supply in affected areas at the earliest.

“I am disturbed to watch the plight of a few pregnant women being ferried to hospitals on cots due to blockade of road. The authorities must take immediate steps to restore the road connectivity so that people do not suffer,” said Muzzafar in a statement.

Sheikh Muzzafar also appealed administration to ensure that the prices of essentials remain under check and the shopkeepers do not resort to illegal profiteering in these testing times.
