Year 2021: 124 fire incidents reported in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: Property worth over Rs 2 crore was destroyed in 124 fire incidents in 2021 alone in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, however, Fire and Emergency Services was able to save property worth over Rs 9.50 crore in the same year.

The office of the Assistant Director Fire and Emergency Services Command Ganderbal informed news agency Kashmir News Trust that in 2021, there were 124 fire incidents. It said that besides 3 Government buildings and 2 commercial buildings, 25 houses, 9 tin sheds, 28 cow sheds, 9 shops, 6 vehicles, 8 electric transformers, 20 bundles of haystacks and 11 Chinar trees caught fire.

 The property worth over Rs 11.59 crore was involved in these fire incidents, however, property worth over Rs 9.50 crore was saved and rest had been destroyed.

The office of the Assistant Director Fire and Emergency Services Command Ganderbal further informed that the fire fighters managed to rescue 11 persons while one person died and another was injured in these incidents.

It said that maximum fire incidents (20) were reported in December.
