Nearly a division of troops have been withdrawn from the Ladakh sector after the situation eased following Doklam face off with Chinese soldiers near Sikkim in northeast sector, well informed sources said.
The Indian reinforcement was necessitated to counter the Chinese sudden deployment on their side. About a division of additional troops, obtained from the newly formed mountain strike corps, were inducted along the eastern border in Ladakh region, as a precautionary measure, to thwart any misadventure by them in the sector, they said adding army had issued a functional look out during the face off.
Over the years, India has been in a process of reinforcing its military strength in the cold desert region. 14th Corps (Fire and Fury) was created after Kargil intrusion by Pakistani troops on the western side and on the eastern side an Infantry Division besides three additional tank regiments had been deployed to defend the country from the aggressions by hostile neighbors.
A part of 17th Mountain Strike Corps, the additional troops were withdrawn from the strategic areas and sent back to their respective locations after the Doklam face off was over.
Meanwhile, Chinese President and Commander in Chief of Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), Xi Jin Peng, has asked its troops to hone their fighting skills and battle preparedness. He underlined that PLA should be proficient of winning wars and said it was a critical part of the ruling Communist Party’s goal of ‘National Rejuvenation’. Xi also urged troops to ‘perform their training under warfare conditions’.
Reacting to volley of questions from reporters, Indian Army Chief, Gen, Bipin Rawat, said “every army has to be in the state of readiness for war. This is a task for every army, so there is nothing new in anybody saying it. I also have to keep prepared in the peace time. We all train and prepare for any eventuality.”
