16 braid chopping incidents in 14 days, Inquiry Committee formed: DC
A complete shutdown was Tuesday observed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, where 14 braid chopping incidents were reported in the last two weeks.
The main chowk Kulgam wore a deserved look while the shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in the entire district. People staged protests and demanded that the culprits behind such crimes should be identified and punished immediately as per the law.
The braid chopping incidents, according to correspondent Zahoor Indrabi, occurred in villages of Malwan, Banimula, Chandargi, Galwanpora and Manzgam.
“14 cases of braid chopping have been reported so far,” DC Kulgam Talat Parvaiz said.
The DC said that the inquiry committee has been constituted under ACR Shahnawaz Hussain. The open FIR has been registered. We appeal people to support administration,” he said.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters Director General Police (DGP) S P Vaid said “Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed and very soon they will nab the people involved in it.” (KNS)
