Reviews rescue, relief arrangements made to deal with migration
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar today visited border villages Bobiya, londi, Chandra Chack, Pensar and took stock of preparedness for dealing with migration of residents in view of recent cross border shelling incidents in Samba and Jammu districts.
Pertinent to mention here that District administration has kept ready the relief camps at identified locations where families shall be provided safe accommodation and basic amenities. The arrangements have been made in the backdrop of recent shelling incidents in R S Pura, Samba and Hiranagar sectors of international border.
Camp commanders and camp officers have been appointed for overseeing arrangements and making provision for relief. Committees of camp inhabitants have also been constituted for coordination.
Meanwhile, the DDC visited forward areas and interacted with residents. He assured the border residents that district administration will provide transportation, shelter, food and other amenities if the need arises. He informed them that evacuation plan has been put in place to ensure safety of the border inhabitants.
He said an Emergency response center has been established by district administration where representatives of various departments have been deputed for immediate response.
Earlier, SDM Hiranagar apprised DDC that a group of over 150 people stayed for one day in the camp due to shelling incidents at border and returned back to their home as the shelling stopped in the evening.
The DC was accompanied by SDM Hiranagar Suresh Chander, SDPO, Engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Tehsildar and other senior officers of the departments
