Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Dr Pawan Kotwal today said that pregnant woman must be provided Quality Ante Natal Care on 9 day of every month under under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan (PMSMA).
He also directed for maintaining list of high risk mothers detected on this day to ensure their follow up and safe outcome and in no case the pregnant women should be deprived of free IFA and calcium tablets.
He passed the orders while reviewing the functioning of health sector including National Health Mission in Kashmir Division at meeting Hall of DC Office, Srinagar.
According to news agency GNS, Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director NHM J&K, Dy. Director Health Services Kashmir, Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer, SHS, J&K, Programme Managers from State Health Society, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents of all District Hospitals and associated hospitals of GMC & SKIMS Bemina Hospital Srinagar and Block Medical Officers of Kashmir Division and other senior officers of Health department.
Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director NHM in his key note address welcomed the participants and informed that the progress of various programmes and schemes of NHM is being timely uploaded on various online portals.
A template has been designed by the State Health Society for undertaking regular review of health institutions and various schemes of NHM at district and block level. He also gave brief insight of various new programmes.
Principal Secretary issued direction to all the participants to ensure pregnant women are not discharged before 48 hours after normal delivery in any case, as the first 48 hours following delivery are the most critical in the entire postpartum period and most of the impotant complications of the postpartum period which can lead to maternal death occur during these 48 hours. Hence, a woman who has just delivered needs to be closely monitored during the first 48 hours
Directions were issued to all the districts to ensure timely release of ASHA incentives and ensure practice of early initiation of breast feeding to newborns immediately after birth.
Chief Medical Officers started the discussion with a power point presentation and various issues regarding the functioning of health institutions were discussed in detail and directions were issued by the Chair to streamline the health sector.
Progress with respect to implementation of Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) on pilot basis in District Hospital Anantnag was also reviewed and directions were issued to ensure early completion of pre requisites for rolling out of the programme. (GNS)
