Normal life was affected in the valley due to the 72-hour strike called by the transporters and supported by the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) started on Monday.
Scores of students scheduled to appear in examinations missed their papers as they were unaware about the strike call, and face difficulties in making it to the examination centres.
While expressing the difficulties, many students told that they found it really tough to make it to the examination centre in absence of the transport facility as they belong far flung area.
The commuters include the old age citizens, children and ailing people are facing acute shortage of inconvenience.
In wake of the strike call given by Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association, all means of public transport including buses, mini-buses, taxies, autos, tankers and trucks were off roads.
A large number of commuters were seen walking by foot to reach to their destinations but only private vehicles were visible on roads which were giving lift to the ailing people to reach their destiny.
Commuters at different bus stops were seen waiving hands at private vehicles for lift. Some got, some did not were feeling very disappointment for non-availability of buses and other vehicle which they use to reach their destinies. (PTK)
