Intense stone-pelting clashes erupted at Below village in Pulwama district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation today following inputs about the presence of some militants.
Official sources told that army, SOG Pulwama and CRPF cordoned off Below and launched search operation as they suspected presence of militants in the area.
While forces started searches, locals pelted stones on them and tried to disrupt the anti-militant operation. The forces responded by firing teargas shells to disperse the stone-throwers. During clashes, eight persons’ sustained injuries but all of them are out of danger. Later the cordon was lifted from the area and no militant was intercepted.
Meanwhile, a grenade was hurled by suspected militants on Police Station Shopian today which however didn’t explode and was later defused by bomb disposal squad. (GNS)
