A man had a narrow escape after a passenger vehicle he was travelling on fell into Nallah Sindh in Sonamarg area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday.

Police rescued the man from gushing waters of Nallah Sindh after the car plunged into the Nallah near Hang Park area under the jurisdiction of Police station Gund.

A police official said that a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK01T- 9484 fell into Nallah Sindh at around 4:30am with two persons onboard.

The man, identified as Krishan Lal, got stuck in the mid of the gushing Nallah Sindh and was waving for help, said the official.

A joint police team from police station Gund and Sonamarg rescued the man from the gushing waters, he said.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Fayaz Ahmed, a resident of Qamarwari in Srinagar, is missing and is feared to have been drowned, said the official. “Efforts are on to trace him,” he said.
