An alert guard foiled an attempt by unidentified miscreants to loot a Jammu and Kashmir Bank in central Kashmir district of Budgam, official said today.
He said a group of unidentified miscreants broke a window of the J&K Bank at Lolipora in Budgam late last night. “Before they could enter the bank and attempt robbery, the security guard of an ATM attacked with the bank raised alarm, following which hundreds of locals rushed towards the financial institute forcing miscreants to escape”, he said.
On June 8, a similar bank robbery attempt on J&K bank was foiled by a security guard at Wanpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
A number of banks looting incidents have witnessed an increase during the past about six months, during which the miscreants have taken away crores of rupees in south Kashmir.
