The district administration Srinagar Friday decided to suspend the class work at MP Higher Secondary School and SP Higher Secondary School here on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone told KNS, “The teaching activity in SP Higher Secondary and MP Higher Secondary will remain suspended on Saturday.”
The class work in these two schools has been suspended following the protests by the students.
The protests in the educational institutes continued since Apr 17 against the alleged thrashing of students in Government degree College Pulwama on Apr 15.
Meanwhile, students of higher secondary school today clashed with the government forces in Kralpora area of Kupwara district.
Witnesses said that the students took to streets and started marching towards the main Chowk amid pro-freedom sloganeering.
However, they said that the police lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the students who in return pelted stones on them, triggering clashes.
Meanwhile, the clashes also erupted between youth and the forces at a few places in Kashmir after the mandatory Friday congregational culminated in the local masjids today.
Witnesses told KNS that the clashes erupted at a few places including Pulwama, Budgam and Hajin after theFriday prayers culminated at the respective masjids.
The forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the youth who were pelting stones on them.
Witnesses said that the clashes also erupted in Anantnag town in the morning hours today.
Meanwhile, police said, “Today morning some miscreants tried to enforce the shutdown in Lalchowk of Anantnag town by pelting stones.”
The officials said that Police reached the spot and chased the miscreants away with the help of the traders. “Normalcy was restored and the market opened up,” they added. (KNS)
