At least 50 students were injured in Handwara town during clashes between students and forces after protests by the latter in the forenoon.
Scores of students were injured in the clashes and many of them were shifted for treatment to district Hospital Handwara.

SSP Handawara Ghulam Jeelani Wani told KNS that students resorted to “heavy stone pelting” following which police was forced to fire tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting students.
“About a dozen students fainted and received minor bruises,” the SSP said.
