IGP Traffic inspects Jammu-Srinagar National Highway

Inspector General (IG)  Traffic Jagjit Kumar, today took stock of the condition of the Jammu –Srinagar National Highway, especially in the aftermath of landslides, shooting stones at various places, especially at Mehar (Ramban), Panthyal and Ramsoo.

 During the inspection, the IP Traffic asked the road maintenance agencies to take extra efforts to make the highway worthy for two-way traffic.

“This highway is of great importance as it acts as a vital road link between the two regions of the State. You should ensure that the road is cleared in shortest possible time in the event of landslides/shooting stones so that no inconvenience is caused to the commuters and the transportation of supplies to the valley does not get affected” IG Traffic asked the agencies.

He further directed them to initiate all possible steps to make the road worthy for two way traffic keeping in view the forthcoming tourist season. The concerned officers assured that all the resources, at their disposal, shall be mobilized and requisite works be taken in hand and completed in a time bound manner to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the NHW.

 The officer   was accompanied by SSP Traffic, NHW Ramban Sanjay Kumar Bhagat and other officers of the Traffic Wing.
