The students of Kashmir University on Thursday staged protest in the varsity premises against the authorities for ‘failing to trace a law student who went missing a few days back’.
The students assembled outside the office of Vice-chancellor and raised slogans against the authorities. They were demanding intervention of VC in tracing the ‘missing’ law student.
The ‘missing’ law student has been identified as Aqib Mushtaq Mir of Pinjoora Shopian.
The protesting student said that a law student went missing a few days back. “The authorities have failed to the trace the missing youth of 3rd semester LLB,” the students said.
The students said that the missing youth attended his last class on Feb 21. “We approached University seeking their intervention in tracing down the student but the university authorities paid no heed thereby forcing us to stage protests,” the protesting students said.
Meanwhile, the family of Aqib that he has left the campus on Tuesday to reach home but unfortunately their beloved one went missing on way.
“The officials tried to trace his location but his phone has gone switched off at Batamaloo. We don’t know where our beloved one is. We demand the police department to trace our beloved one,” Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, father of missing youth said.
Meanwhile, the police officials said that the investigation in this regard is ongoing. “We have already registered a missing report and the investigation in this regard is ongoing,” the officials said. (KNS)
