District Magistrates of Baramulla and Kulgam today imposed restrictions under Section 144 Cr.PC on the movement of people around the site of any counter-insurgency operations within the jurisdiction of these districts.
In Baramulla, DM Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash imposed restrictions within the radius of 3 km from the site of any counter-insurgency operations for a period of 60 days.
In Kulgam, DM Showkat Aijaz Bhat issued the advisory on the movement of people within the radius of 1.5 km from any encounter sites.
It was said that the restrictions have been imposed as an anticipatory measure for the safety and security of the general public and to avoid any untoward accident during counter-insurgency operations.
Further, in case of any exigency, locals can seek assistance of the concerned district administrations or police authorities. However these restrictions shall not apply to the movement of ambulances, medical, paramedical staff and government employees. (PTK)
