‘No Kashmiri wants to see them living in Israeli type settlements’.
Terming Kashmiri Pandits as ‘part and parcel’ of Kashmiri society, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday said no one in Kashmir can oppose their return as they belong to this land.
In a statement Malik ,said but no Kashmiri wants to see them living in Israeli type settlements (separate colonies) and spend their lives as aliens.
JKLF chairman said, “Kashmiri Pandits have equal rights as Kashmiri Muslims and we all welcome them back whole heartedly. They should return, live at the places of their choice and gel with the rest of society in their own land as they been living in past.”
He said that it is not the freedom camp or the people of Kashmir that are politicizing this issue but it is the government of India and the state government who are politicizing it and complicating their return.
Malik said that thousands of Pandit brethren who refused to leave Kashmir and are still living here with dignity are a good example of our composed culture and shared living and no one should be allowed to harm this brotherhood and harmony.
Terming the declaration of Hari Singh’s birthday a holiday as ‘height of shamelessness’ of PDP politics, JKLF chief said, “Hypocrites are asking us to honor killers as well as their victims simultaneously.”
“How can these people observe 13th July as a martyr’s day and at the same time observe Hari-Singh’s birthday as a holiday,” asked Malik.
He said that by issuing this ‘ridiculous order’, the rulers and other pro-India parties and politicians have actually mocked at the sacrifices and struggle of Kashmiris who fought for years to get rid-off autocratic rule from Jammu Kashmir.
JKLF chief said that the philosophy behind these kinds of orders and legislation is that pro-India rulers and politicians have also become mini-Maharajas as their parties and politics is also promoting family politics in Jammu Kashmir.
He said that it is because of this very mindset that from NC to PDP, all these rulers and politicians choose to live in bungalows and resorts used by erstwhile Maharajas.
Malik said that these rulers and Indian stooges should bear in mind that these kinds of legislation and orders are of zero value and no Kashmiri accepts these kinds of ‘gimmicks’.
While expressing serious concern over the plight of inmates languishing in various jails and police stations of JK, Malik said, “Despite tall claims of honoring court orders and releasing all political prisoners, thousands of young and old are languishing in police stations and jails and are enduring severe hardships.”
Malik said that re-arresting those who get bail from courts or whose PSA is quashed by high court, demanding ransom for the release of these inmates, torturing them and humiliating their families has become the order of the day.
JKLF chairman while condemning the prolonged incarceration of resistance leaders including Mir Hafizullah, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Moulana Sarjan Barkati, 14-year-old Sahil Ahmad Sheikh and others said that JKLF leaders and activists including JKLF zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, District president Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), JKLF activists Fayaz Ahmad Mir of Ganderbal, Shabir Ahmad Ganaie of Kakapora Pulwama, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Kupwara, Assadullah Sheikh of Kulgam, Molvi Reyaz of Sopore, Muhammad Ishaaq Malik Kokernagh, sahib Khan Trehgam , Master Muhammad Ibrahim of Wilgam Kupwara also languishing in jails and their incarceration is also being prolonged. He strongly condemned the house arrest of JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi who from the day of his release has been confined to his residence.
While recalling the massacre by Indian army and forces at Kupwara, JKLF chief said, “Mass killings of people in Kupwara, Handwara, Sopore, Srinagar, Bijbihara, Sailan Poonch and Baderwah etc remind us the brutal face of Indian democracy and also the sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir for their freedom.”
He said that these sacrifices will never go in vain and tyrants according to the law of retribution will have to face justice one day.
Meanwhile, according to the spokesman, a high level delegation of JKLF comprising of JKLF leaders Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Abdul Rashid Mir, Nisar Ahmad Jeelani, Muhammad Azeem Zargar, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and Bashir Ahmad Wani today visited Kupwara on the occasion of Kupwara martyrs day.
