Pakistani High Commission officer Mahmood Akhtar and four other employees were detained by police in New Delhi on Thursday, reports said.
The detentions were made as the employees allegedly possessed some “sensitive information”.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have soared since heavily armed militants attacked an army base in Uri, Kashmir near the de-facto border dividing Kashmir on September.
19 soldiers were killed in the attack for which India blamed Pakistan.
