Employees Joint Action Committee president Abdul Qayoom Wani on Friday while strongly condemning the killing of lecturer Shabir Ahmad Mangoo of Khrew Pampore said his “custodial killing is an eye-opener for the conscious citizens with human heart”.

In a statement, Wani said the killing of innocent citizens shall not be tolerated at any circumstances. “An open court enquiry be conducted to punish the security forces involved with this cold blooded murder,” he said.

He also criticized the government’s circular asking employees to join duties. “The circular is quite contrary to the ground and prevailing situation in the valley. The government should not issue such circulars and should not target the employees having no fault,” he added.

Wani also condemned the attack on the ambulance and its driver by the government forces at Safa Kadal and said that such acts have caused sense of insecurity among the employees. He hailed the employees of health department  who put their lives on stake to save the lives of thousands of injured patients in the valley.
