Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday referred to Kashmir as ‘Indian occupied’, but attempted to clarify when pointed out, reports said.
While talking to reporters, media reports quoting Digvijaya Singh said “Narendra Modi is more concerned about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. But he is not ready to talk to Kashmiris in India. If we want to build trust, whether in ‘Indian-occupied Kashmir’ or ‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’, then that is possible only through talks.”
He further added, “PM Modi’s remark cannot change the situation, they will get worse.”
However, when a reporter pointed out his turn of phrase, Digvijaya Singh attempted to clarify the faux pas saying, “No, I meant the Kashmir in India… It’s integral part of India.”
