At least five people were injured after Army men from 22 Rashtriya Rifles stationed a Pazalpora Sopore in North Kashmir allegedly went on a rampage post pro-freedom protest in the area. Army men according to locals went berserk in the twin villages of Hardushiva and Pazalpora and thrashed people irrespective of age and gender.
Locals said that Army retaliated after some youth amid pro-freedom slogans pelted stones on the Army camp. “The youth responsible for the action disappeared from the scene, however the army men targeted the innocent people and thrashed them black and blue,” said a local to news agency CNS wishing not to be named. He added that Army even didn’t spare women and physically challenged persons.
He said that Army physically tortured some of the youth who were later on shifted to nearby Health Centres for treatment. They identified the injured youth as Wasif Nabi, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Ghulam Hassan, Firdous Ahmad and a ‘mentally disturbed’ youth Fayaz Ahmad.
When contacted, Srinagar based Defence Spokesperson Colonel N.N Joshi told CNS that the allegations are not factual and are baseless.
