Bandipora village protests against army’s alleged highhandedness

The residents in North Kashmir’s Khenusa village Wednesday morning staged protests against the alleged army highhandedness.

Villagers in Khenusa assembled on Sopore Bandipora road alleging E company of Army 27 Rashtriya Rifles of harassing people during last evening when army men allegedly forced entry into the houses.

“Army men in the evening tried to enter the village to arrest some youth but villagers resisted” protesting villagers said.

Later army tried forced entry into the residential houses during night which evoked protests forcing troopers to fire in air, they said.

Army Bregadier, however told that protesting youth of the locality pelted stones on Navy det. “They (people) attacked our men when they tried to pacify them,” he said.
