The family of a schoolgirl Insha Mushtaq, 15, who had sustained pellet injuries on July 10, in Sedow area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday said that no one from the government visited them so far. While talking to KNS over phone from New Delhi, Mushtaq Ahmad, father of Insha who is at AIIMS hospital said, “Government has left us to fend for ourselves as no one from the government visited us in the hospital. No one from government contacted us.”The doctors who today operated [upon] my daughter said that she will regain eyesight in one eye. However, they said that they are not sure about the recovery of another eye,” he said.

Mushtaq said that the Director AIIMS has said that they will send her report to international specialists and has assured that if needed, they will send his daughter to America for further specialized treatment.Meanwhile, he said that the leaders of opposition parties including Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi, G A Mir and CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat visited the AIIMS hospital and enquired the health condition of Insha.
Pertinently, reports said that schoolgirl Insha Mushtaq, 15,was sitting at her home, her family says, when a policeman fired a pellet gun “straight into her face” through the window.Insha’s family had said that she was looking out from the kitchen window in Sedow, a picturesque village in Shopian located some 60km from Srinagar, on July 12 evening when pellets hit her. “There had just been a clash between the forces and protesters in the neighbourhood,” family had said.
