Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said on Sunday that the government’s decision to begin from August 10 the recruitment of Special Police Officers “is nothing but (a measure aimed at) reviving the notorious Ikhwan culture in the state”.
He said the ikhwanis “wiped off an entire generation of freedom loving people throughout the valley”.
“The puppet government is least bothered about the employment and welfare of Kashmiris. They just want to strengthen the Indian rule and to do so they create such local forces to give the impression that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is managed and controlled by the Kashmiries themselves and in case force is used only Kashmiris will be killed on either side,” Geelani said in a a statement.
The ailing resistance leader said that “8 lakh soldiers aided by local forces have failed to curb the freedom sentiment of the people for almost seven decades”.
He said while the bloodbath and massive peaceful protests during the past month demanded a serious approach “from Delhi Durbar” to address the core issue, “the imperialistic forces always rely on their might and Indian rulers did the same by calling more troops to crush the ongoing movement”.
“Geelani sahab appealed to the youth not to be misled by the false and cosmetic tactics of the puppet regime as these are just to hoodwink the global powers whom they try to convey that it’s the local forces that are in total control here in the state,” the statement said.
Geelani appealed to the people to make tomorrow’s protest programme a success by blocking all roads leading to Civil Secretariat Srinagar and district and tehsil offices throughout the state so that no employee is able to attend the office.
He asked deputy commissioners and all heads of the institutions to “desist from threatening their employees” on phones to resume their duty.
Geelani also addressed a huge gathering at Samboora, Pulwama, wherein he stressed the need of unity and discipline in this crucial juncture and he appealed people especially youth to follow joint Hurriyat programme strictly. He further said that this movement may prolong and advised nation to be steadfast and prepared for more harsh days to come.
