Muslims have decided to observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day all across Chenab Valley of Jammu region. India’s Independence Day falls on August 15. The call has been given to express resentment against the unabated killings of civilians and use of pellets in Kashmir Valley.
Imam Umar Masjid Kishtwar and separatist leader Molvi Abdul Qayoom Mattoo has called on the people of Chenab valley including Kishtwar district to observe 15th August, India’s Independence Day as “Black day” in protest against the killings of civilians in Kashmir and injuring of more than 6000 people, so far.
They have said that the people will continue to raise their voice until and unless the “government of India will not agree to implement the UN resolution on holding plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir”.
They asked people “not to send their children’s including girls for its participation in Independence Day” and told them to “boycott the upcoming August 15 day activities”.
Meanwhile people in Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Banihal and Ramban areas of Jammu region observed complete shutdown on Saturday against the civilian killings by government forces in the Kashmir Valley. All shops and business establishments in the areas were closed while skeletal movement of transport was observed on the roads. Reports said that a big protest march was taken out in Doda that was addressed by Advocate Mastan Babar and others. The speakers while condemning the innocent killings in Kahsmir alleged that government of India is least bothered about Muslim population of Jammu and Kashmir. (CNS)
